Bridal Asia 2008 served as a platform for this years discerning brides and grooms to put together the wedding of their dreams.

A three-day BridalAsia exhibition was an elaborate event. There were designers, jewellers, shoe and bag designers, décor experts and dinnerware, chocolates as perfect wedding gifts, lifestyle home products, linen and home furnishings, silverware, and packaging. All were an integral part of the affair; fantastic creations in original ideas. These were actually professional presentations. Not retailers off the high street.

New York’s latest fashion season opened on Thursday, Sept. 4 but the first significant runway show was on Sunday, Sept. 7.All the people, paparazzi and security buzzing around fashion show made the Bryant Park tents feel like a sold-out concert.

Diane von Furstenberg. Nearly 40 years in the business and she still looks impossibly gorgeous with those cheekbones that reach for the sky and a youthful fashion mindset that is more immediate and edgy than designers who are old enough be her grandchildren.Von Furstenberg offered few of the wrap-style dresses that have made her such a success but she did show a novel tiered wrap dress in a puckered black plisse fabric.

At show, her husband Barry Diller was seated between Holly wood star Uma Thurman and Jennifer Lopez, while Anna Wintour chatted to Venus Williams a few seats along.

She  isn’t the only designer to buy into that trend, though, as genie pants have become a fixture in the spring collections, which run through Friday.
